Quay

Sync local folders with GitHub.

Privacy Policy

Quay does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. There are no analytics, no telemetry, and no third-party services.

What Quay stores locally

GitHub credential — your OAuth access token or personal access token, stored in the macOS Keychain (service com.quay.github-pat). It is encrypted by macOS and scoped to Quay. It is attached only to requests to github.com, never to any other host.

Repository configuration — folder paths, branch names, and sync history. Stored locally in Quay's app group container, ~/Library/Group Containers/group.com.quay.shared/Quay/.

Purchase and trial record — whether Quay has been unlocked, and the date your free trial began. Stored in the same container, and the trial date also in the Keychain (service com.quay.trial-start). This record is deliberately preserved when you reset Quay, so that resetting does not restart the free trial.

Network requests

Quay communicates only with GitHub. The requests it makes:

All sync operations use the local git binary. Data travels directly between your Mac and GitHub's servers. No data passes through any intermediary.

Data deletion

Settings > Reset Quay removes your GitHub credential from the Keychain, together with your repository list and sync history. This is the only way to remove the credential, so use it before deleting anything by hand. Your purchase and trial record is deliberately kept, so that resetting Quay does not restart the free trial.

To remove the remaining local files, including the purchase and trial record, delete Quay's containers:

rm -rf ~/Library/Group\ Containers/group.com.quay.shared/Quay/
rm -rf ~/Library/Containers/com.quay.Quay/

Uninstalling Quay does not remove these automatically.
